| Oporto
Golf Club is one of the oldest courses in Continental Europe with established links going back to
the year 1890. It was formed by British residents of Oporto in that
year, and is very proud club of its hallowed traditions.
It is an 18 hole links course, situated 17 kilometres to the south of Oporto, and running beside the beaches of Espinho…. a chance for the family to sunbathe? Although relatively short with 5556 metres, and a Par 71, it still proves an interesting course… especially if the wind was blowing! A course in two parts with 4 Par 3 holes, 11 Par 4 and 3 Par 5 holes. The bunkers appear to be placed in the right places, along with the streams and water hazards! No buggies are available, and only soft spikes can be used. Hand trolleys \ clubs can be hired from the caddy master. Club professional is on hand if you need help. Handicap certificates (men 28, women 36) are required. A good practice area for driving, chipping, bunkers and putting is available, if you are playing the course. The members want full
use of the course at weekends, so you should play during the week, and
remember it’s closed on Mondays. Take the Oporto – Lisboa Motorway; follow the EN109 to Espinho. ..... the course is a little south of this town, near the beach. |
